The Management team are involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The team supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Due to the combined size of the surgeries we have a number of reception staff.  Many receptionists divide their time between Helston and Porthleven.  The team includes Anna, Bev, Bridie, Lisa, Maria, Marie, Kirsten, Rachael, Sue, Louisa, Daisy, Lucy, Tegen, Sharon and Sue. They are led by Vicky our Reception Manager, and Emma our Deputy Reception Manager.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

In order to book you the right appointment the receptionist may ask you why you need to be seen.  The doctors have asked them to do this as they may be able to save you having to come in and be seen or ensure that you have the right appointment first time rather than having to call you back into a different clinic.  If you are really unhappy to tell them why you need to be seen please tell them it is personal.  Each of the nurses has a slightly different range of skills and it is particularly important with their appointments to know why you wish to be seen. In addition some checks take longer than others and the receptionist will endeavour to book you the right length appointment with the right member of the nursing team.
