CAR PARKING AT HELSTON MEDICAL CENTRE

Car parking remains an issue at the surgery and we are aware for safety purposes we may have to change how the car park is used.  We would urge where possible patients and visitors to use the public car park across the road.

New Patient Registrationregister_now

We currently have an open list and welcome requests for registration from patients living in or moving to the practice area (roughly a seven mile radius of Helston, please check with reception to ensure you are in our practice area). You can register by completing a form ‘GMS1’ which is available at reception.

The registration pack includes a brief questionnaire for each member of the family. This tells us a little bit about you whilst we are waiting for your notes to arrive from your previous surgery. Please return the completed questionnaire to the reception.  It is confidential and will be included in your medical records.

You are able to express a preference of doctor and whilst the practice will try to comply it might not always be possible.

We encourage all new patients over the age of 5 to have an initial health assessment with the practice nurse. She will check your blood pressure, height, weight, and test your urine.

Having chosen your preferred doctor you should try to see the same doctor for follow-up of any continuing problem. In the case of an emergency, you will be able to see any available doctor.

Medical treatment is available from the date of registration.  Please contact reception for further information.

Helping us to Communicate effectively with you and enable access to our system.

We are increasingly aware that for many patients the best form of communication is via mobile phone and email.  As a practice we would like to encourage you to register your details for these services.

There are three main electronic services available:-

Registering your email address can enable

The Waiting Room (over 16s only)

  • Ordering of prescriptions direct from your clinical record

  • Booking of appointments (this will increase if uptake improves)

  • Patient access to parts of the clinical record (available soon).

Email communication

  • If you consent we can send you communication via email rather than letter e.g. recall for clinics and results.

 Mjog text service

  • Appointment reminders to your mobile phone

  • Health campaigns reminders e.g. flu vaccination due

  • Aim to send recall reminders to book chronic disease checks through this service.

A letter and application form for the waiting room is available below or at reception.  All services require an independent and secure contact for each patient.
