To book an appointment at Helston Medical Centre call 01326 569700. To book at Porthleven please call 01326 562204.
Urgent Cases are seen on the same day. If your condition is non-urgent you can book a routine appointment up to four weeks in advance.
Remember to tell us immediately if your call is an emergency, especially if you are in a telephone box so that if you get cut off we can ring you back straight away.
If more than one person in the family needs to be seen please let us know and we can give you a longer appointment if necessary.
We have a mix of "on the day" and urgent appointments. You can book up to four weeks in advance with your doctor. Or, if you need to be seen before the next routine appointment ring for an "on the day" appointment. If there are appointments available you will be offered one. However, if all the appointments have been booked you will be asked to ring back the following day unless you feel it is medically urgent in which case we will continue to see urgent cases.
You can register for "The Waiting Room" which enables you to book appointments online.
Improved Access to General Practice
We are participating in a national incentive to offer evening and weekend appointments to make it easier for you to see a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional at this GP practice. This service is a trial at present and will not necessarily continue in the longer term.
From 29 September, Helston Medical Centre and Porthleven Surgery is providing routine evening GP/nurse appointments until 8pm on a Monday and Saturday morning GP/nurse appointments from 0900 - 1230. Please contact us by phone for details on how to book an evening or Saturday appointment (or book online in the usual way).
Clinics are available on Mondays 1830-1930, Saturdays and Sunday mornings.
The aim of the national scheme is to help people who may find it difficult to see a healthcare professional during the traditional surgery opening hours of 8.30am-6.30pm Monday to Friday.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. The nurses based at our practice are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.
You can book to have a telephone consultation with a doctor. He or she will ring at the end of his/her surgery on the telephone number you have given. Please note that we cannot guarantee the time of this call.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
The practice offers some appointments both first thing in the morning (before 0800) and after 1830 some evenings. Please as the receptionist if you specifically need outside normal surgery hours and they will check availability for you.
GP Access fund - further appointments
We also have a few appointments available on Saturdays under the GP access fund. If you specifically require a Saturday morning ask the receptionist and they will do their best to facilitate an appointment. These are routine appointments only (the surgery is not open for any other queries). The GP may be from Helston Medical Centre or another GP from one of the other South Kerrier GP practices.
